We’re excited to announce that the Stars and Stripes Catamaran will soon be available for charter service at Key Lime Sailing Club!
This impressive catamaran was originally the sister boat of the Stars and Stripes H3, which was famously raced by Dennis Conner and won the America’s Cup in 1988. After being purchased by adventurer Steve Fosset, the Stars and Stripes S1 went on to become the fastest inshore and lake sailboat in the United States. It held records for numerous races, including the Chicago-Mackinac Race, Newport-Ensenada Race, and Swiftsure.
Under Fosset’s ownership, the Stars and Stripes S1 was used to set speed records around the world before being sold to Key Lime Sailing Club and Cottages in Key Largo in 2017. Since then, we’ve been hard at work refitting the catamaran for both racing and charter service.
Now, visitors to Key Largo will have the chance to experience the thrill of sailing on the same boat that once held so many records. Our day charters on the Stars and Stripes Catamaran offer a unique opportunity to explore the waters around Key Largo in style and comfort.
